MY TWO CENTS ON YOUR SIX-YEAR TERM OUR DEAR PRESIDENT DUTERTE

Your term is about to end. I just want to express my views and opinions about your promises when you are still campaigning in order to earn our votes. Your war on drugs, fight against corruption, fight against illegal gambling and your “Build, Build, Build” project are your main platform of governance.

 

WAR ON DRUGS

During your term, “Big-Fishes” are being identified as drug lords. Police generals, politicians and other big-time drug lords were identified and some were even killed during police raid operations. Many users and pushers surrendered. The values of drugs confiscated during drug raids were at an all-time high, even amounting to billions of pesos. Mr. President, I would like to commend you for a job well done. But I just have one concern, please spare the lives of the minor victims because they can still be reformed and lead successful lives.


FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION

Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission was established under your term. Many corrupt government officials were identified and prosecuted by the said commission. While your campaign against corruption are successful on the first part of your term, it was however tainted on the issue involving supplies for COVID-19 response.

 

ILLEGAL GAMBLING

I have a lot of questions regarding your policies about illegal gambling, especially here in our province of Ilocos Sur. Small gambling activities like “tong-its” & Mahjong are being prohibited and violators are arrested. But big-time gambling activities like jueteng, cock-fighting, lotto and casinos are rampant. I guess you failed on this promise Mr. President.

 

BUILD, BUILD, BUILD

With regards to this, I think you are also doing a great job. Many infrastructure projects like roads, bridges, express ways are accomplished during your term. Personally, I witnessed those developments because our family used to travel before the pandemic. Projects are more efficient under your term compared to past presidents.

 

PANDEMIC RESPONSE

COVID-19 pandemic is a challenge that your government in fact even the world is not expecting. Even great countries like the USA are having a hard time dealing with this plague wherein a lot of lives have already lost. I think you have done a poor job on your pandemic response, mainly because you designated a wrong person on the job by sticking with the health secretary who is doing a very lousy job.

 

Overall, I would still congratulate you in doing a good job. Maybe the COVID-19 pandemic derailed your plans for our country. I can say that you are still on of the best presidents that served in this country. Thank you very much Mr. President!

    Such a great opinion! What caught really my attention is that he did a poor job in responding COVID-19. Maybe Philippines is unprepared for this unexpected pandemic but he as a president must always prepared. But anyways, I enjoyed reading your opinion about him.:)
